The Service of Attention to Diversity and Volunteering

The Service of Attention to Diversity and Volunteering at the University of Murcia depends on the
Vice-Rectorate of Students, Quality and Equality, and it´s handling his job since 1995, being one of thefirst service which ran in Spanish Universities. During these 19 years, the Service has been, and is, a national reference in the management of the University volunteering. Besides, in 2012, the Service saw increased its functions due to the join with the area of Attention to Diversity.

Our Service is an instrument of social action of the University on issues of exclusion, marginalization, attention to groups at risk of exclusion, groups with fewer opportunities and integration of students with disabilities. Through this Service, materializes the flow of input and output, and relationships with the Third Sector, the associative world and the groups at risk of exclusion, strengthening cooperation with associations, public and private entities and NGOs. The participation of the university community in these projects allows to increase the territorial impact of the University on local development and integration with the most disadvantaged sectors of our region.

The Service of Attention to Diversity and Volunteering (ADyV), has two main functions: On the one hand, the improvement of University life and equality of opportunity, through attention to diversity,
psychological, pedagogical and legal advice, and the promotion of community health, responding to needs of psychological type, academic performance and family, social, and legal nature. On the other hand, the Service manages and promotes the important solidarity action of the University community, and its social responsibility through the University Volunteer Program and it has as main function promoting solidarity, social awareness, and volunteering.



The University of Murcia 

The University of Murcia is a public institution of Higher Education, which was born in March 1915, and has, as a central axis of their activities, the attainment of academic and scientific excellence. It is a University with teaching responsibility, socially engaged with international projection, and an adequate, practical and flexible academic offer.

Our University is located in the Region of Murcia, autonomous community located in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula. The population of the region is almost a million and a half inhabitants. Its capital is Murcia, which is the largest and most important city of the region. Murcia is a warm region and with an important touristic sector, concentrated mainly on the coast and a vast cultural heritage. For these reasons, our region has good infrastructures for the displacement.

In the Region of Murcia there are three Universities, two publics and one private, being the University of Murcia, the largest and most ancient of them. Currently, this University has approximately thirty-eight thousand students, given out in differents campuses, like La Merced Campus, Campus of Espinardo, University Campus of Lorca, Health Science Campus and Campus of San Javier.
